Some Thoughts from the Men's Auxiliary Secretary:

Greetings from the Men's Auxiliary of VFW Post 10804!

I would like to give you a brief history of our Men's Auxiliary. The concept of VFW
Post 10804 forming a men's auxiliary was first brought up in 2005, with post
members Tom Bowman and Pete Zebrowski, among others, being the driving
force behind the effort to make this happen.  These men gathered 25 charter
members, and did all the paperwork to bring our auxiliary to life.  Our first
meeting was held at VFW Post 10804 on July 30, 2005.

John Heenan was elected as our first President, and along with the other first
officers, he concentrated his efforts on growing our numbers during our first year
of existence. We were in the neighborhood of 50-60 members the first year, but
only about 5-6 were active in any of our activities.  A database and mailing list
was established to get as many people involved as possible.

Also, during that first year, we did all we could to shoulder our share of
responsibilities at the post, including taking over the annual Post Yard Sale and
working with a local Boy Scout troop to help them raise funds at the North Myrtle
Beach Irish-Italian Festival.

In 2006, Jerry DeFord became our second Auxiliary President, and our ranks
began to swell to the 80-90 member range.  Along with this growth, we found that
many of our new members were local residents who wanted to assist and
participate in the things the Men's Auxiliary wanted to do!

Now we have 20-30
active members who are always present in our events! Our
auxiliary prepares and serves a monthly Sunday Brunch buffet.
To show our support for the members of VFW Post 10804 and the Ladies
Auxiliary, we sponsor a trip to a Myrtle Beach Pelicans minor league baseball
game for members of all 3 of our organizations.

Now we boast more than 100 members in our auxiliary, and we are proud to be
working for VFW Post 10804 and our community.

We are looking foward to another year of service and growth.

I would like to thank ALL the members of VFW Post 10804 for their continued
encouragement and support, and the members of our Ladies Auxiliary, who have
helped guide us along the right road.

Thanks Again!
Roland Ormrod, Secretary
