The "Vietnam Moving Wall", a half-size replica of the Vietnam
Memorial in Washington, D.C., was here November 1-5, 2007.  It
was on display at Broadway at the Beach, 24 hrs per day, for
the duration of the exhibit.

Although the exhibit was sponsored and hosted by VFW Post
10804, there were many other organizations and individuals
who worked very well together to make this event possible.

Here are some highlights of the display:

This is The Moving Wall as the set-up was nearing completion -
the flags were put up a bit later!

"Turtle's Tower" is a fire
tower.  It became part
of the plans from the
very start, and we were
all thrilled to see it go up!

Kris "Turtle" Tourtellotte,
Committee Chairman
for this event, was
instrumental in getting
this event and this fire
tower ready to go!

The Moving Wall
is a traveling memorial replica saluting/honoring
all fallen members of the military who gave their lives in the Republic
of South Vietnam during that conflict.  As of January, 2007, there
were 58,253 names etched on
The Moving Wall.

It has been estimated that at least 40,000 people visited The
Moving Wall during its weekend stay in Myrtle Beach.

A heartfelt "Thank You" is due to the many, many volunteers who
made this monumental event possible.  Whether you escorted The
Wall into town, read names (to put all 58,000+ names on an MP3),
picked up litter, secured items left at The Wall, looked up names,
assisted visitors, provided security, pushed a wheelchair,
participated in the opening/closing ceremonies, built/tore down the
walkways, donated money, or invested your time and talents in
some other important way for this project, we thank you.

The POW/MIA
Table was also an
integral part of the
display.

A "Missing Man"
ceremony, setting
the table with a
cover from each
military branch,
was part of the
opening ceremony.
